Gray Academy: What it Means to be a Consultant Segment 1 (Self-Study)

TWO-PART SESSION:

Session 1: Making the Shift to a Consultant

Session 2: Panel on Serving as Strategic Advisors  (Register for Part 2 Separately)

As the accounting industry continues to undergo changes in light of technological advances and growing demands from clients and the marketplace for more proactive, advisory services, we must adapt or become obsolete. The purpose of this two-part session is to assist staff with making the transition to serving in a consultative capacity. The session will focus on the mindset and preferred behaviors of consultants, while also ensuring an understanding of the various consulting opportunities at our firm that can enable staff to act in a consultative manner every day.

The first part will include an overview of our strategic vision and making the shift to thinking and acting like a consultant, followed by a second part with a panel discussion featuring real examples of serving as advisors to clients – such as common items to look for/listen for during client engagements which could potentially help to strengthen the relationship and lead to additional consulting work. The panel will also help foster awareness of service offerings in order for staff to act as advisors to clients by sharing potential cross-selling opportunities.
