Michael Cecere, CPA, MST
Overview
Michael Cecere was a valued member of the Gray, Gray & Gray team for 36 years, joining the firm in 1989 and being elected Partner in 2002. Throughout his distinguished career, Michael was known for his steady, calm approach and his commitment to delivering exceptional client service, combining extraordinary technical expertise with a client-focused mindset.
Michael served clients across a wide range of industries and led the firm’s Nonprofit and Employee Benefit Plan Audit practice groups. He also played a key role in quality control for the firm’s accounting and auditing practices, ensuring the highest standards were maintained. No matter the challenge, Michael could always be counted on to deliver thoughtful and effective solutions.
His expertise was widely recognized by both clients and peers. Michael was appointed to the Executive Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, where he helped CPAs address the complexities of quality audits in this specialized area. He also served on the AICPA CPA Exam Auditing Subcommittee and was appointed to the Academic Executive Committee, which builds bridges between accounting professionals and academics to attract and engage a diverse, well-prepared next generation of accountants.
In addition to his professional achievements, Michael served as a director and treasurer of the Family Firm Institute and as treasurer of the Neponset River Regional Chamber. He currently serves as chairman of the finance board at St. Timothy’s Parish in Norwood, Massachusetts.
Michael is a graduate of Merrimack College and received his Master’s in Taxation with high honors from Bentley University. He has shared his expertise as an Adjunct Professor at his undergraduate alma mater and currently teaches at Boston College, passing on his knowledge and experience to future accounting professionals.
